Was the North colonized? I doubt it, there were protection agreements from tribal elders

Not everything was a colony.
Somalia was barley ruled by the euros and only through treaties made by the sultans and boqors who wanted to war their neighbours did the Italians and british get power.
Hobyo sultanate was only abolished in 1927.
Geldi Sultanate was only abolished in 1911.
It was selfgoverned by tribal sheikhs, so we are supposed to call it colonialism “by name.”

True, unlike the British, Italian colonization in the south was not real until Mussolini took power and they became fascists I believe, so they broke the protectorate agreements with the Sultans MJ. Previously, they had a balanced policy with the Somali tribes, and if there was any bad decision, revolts would occur, as happened when the Bimal tribe revolted because of the ban on slaves.
