I’m guessing they need the water for their own consumption plus agriculture lack of rainfall is also causing these droughts it’s a lot of compounding factors

It would be a war just like fighting over oil reserves. Look at Sudan now, there is a brutal proxy war over Gold and other minerals.

Turkey is using agricultural development in its southeast to bribe the Kurds into giving up on secession. Look up the massive Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP). They give the Kurds valuable irrigated land from which they can export fruit & veg tariff free to the EU. Only problem is that this comes at the expense of Syria and especially Iraq where aquifers are being salinized due to seawater intrusion.

This could be Somalia's future if we don't make an agreement with Ethiopia regarding the Juba and Shabelle.
