Ethiopians pretending to be Somali

Of course but the man in the clip is lying when he says he’s Somali when he’s not to help his asylum application like a lot of East Africans.
I noticed this and they pose online. I also seem a video of "Somalis" in South Africa being denied services. It was a lot of them and most of them looked Eritrean/Ethiopian.

What I don't get is that Ethiopia has a war so why do they have to claim to be Somali to get asylum? Same with Sudan etc.

You can find Somalis from back home who look like that. One of the biggest misconceptions is that all Somalis look the same, which is not true.

Actually, this guy does come across as dodgy. He listens to madow music, already knows some English, and Somalis from somalia these days don’t even take the Libya/France route. Either he’s Djiboutian or from some other part of the Horn.
Look there always exceptions. Its not his hair its his accent and face. I cant explain it. My Eritrean friend can even tell the difference between Muslim or Christian Eritreans. I used to only see Muslim Eritreans until I met a Christian one and my friend was right. I knew right away. Its hard to explain.

I have been mistaken for Ethiopian even by Ethiopians every now and then. But we i start taking they know right away I am Somali. Oromo look different than Amharic as well.

Yes we all dont look the same just like Russians don't always look the same but I can tell the difference between them and British white people right away. Same with Italians. Does that mean all Italians look the same no, but they still differ from people from Sweden.

Hell this may sound crazy but even Americans at times look different than Canadians. Its odd but they seem different. Probably linked to where their family came from. Jamacians don't appear the same as Black Americans either.

People get sensitive because they think pointing out differences is bad. Its like those colorblind people. Somalis are now starting to act qabil blind because of sensitivity around the issue. The difference is not the problem is how we treat people based on these differences.

Qabils are nothing more than kinship based patrilineal groups. I'm not sure there are even notab;e differences to point out since no one can agree on what territory each qabil inhabits.

That said, qabil in of itself isn't bad of course and served an important function in Somali society for thousands of years. There is no problem with maintaining in today's times. The issue is how it is politicized.
