Since Menelik times they had railways, but tbh they need it more than us, btw only Addis Djibouti is built

Yes I do know that but if Ethiopia can complete these plans they can gain a massive advantage. Historically speaking the one big disadvantage of Ethiopia was well... how big it was, they could not fight wars as one country- for example the Tigray war was in effect a war just between Amhara+Addis vs Tigray, in any other country they would have shipped in troops from all corners of the country to defend it.
An ENDF force in Gambela cannot react to developments on the other side of the country, if this is completed it can.
