Erdogan proposes a new six-nation bloc in Caucasus

To keep your balance, you must keep moving.
During his visit to Azeri capital, Baku, Erdogan put forward the idea of Turkey, Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia creating a new regional bloc. Erdogan wants to open its borders with Armenia if it takes steps toward regional peace.

Turkey and Azerbaijan signed an agreement making travel among their citizens passport-free and with no limitation on length of stay. Basically these two countries are merging de facto.

I saw the pictures of Baku. I must say the Azeri capital looks like a European city and not a Middle Eastern one.

It looks like Turkey wanted to resolve the many-decades-old Karabakh conflict to start regional development and beat Europe. Both Central Asia and Caucasus sit right at the trade routes between China and Europe.

I look at our region. The Horn of Africa has long way to go. :(

Both the EU and the US are eminent to impose sanctions against Turkey any day now.

Putin is praising Erdogan and says they can work together and sidestep the Crimea issue.

I think the Turkish lira will slide even more now and Turkey might be pushed further down into the already unfolding economic crisis. Erdogan seems to be un-phased by the threats though.

Italy is trolling France and wants to up the trade with Turkey from $20 billions to $30 b annually.

Italy, Spain, Hungary and Poland might be a saving grace for Turkey to avoid the EU sanctions. Each has a veto power and is lenient toward Turkey.
