They should educate and empower local tribes to protect their lands from charcoal trade. Unfortuntely, poverty has an impact on people's decisions. With the allure of money to the tribe elders, they might turn a blind eye to the destruction of the environment.

I remember reading eastern European cooperatives used to demand all their members to plant a couple of trees annually. Hence they had an incentive to plant trees.

This is why a lot of the coasts is empty and many clans move inland. land doesn't support nomads and grazing. It does have great potential for vacation and resorts but need safety and modern amenities to attract diaspora and foreigners. great scenery going to waste all up and down coast
