The crazy part is that the UK consumer is actually quite well protected against energy price rises. Price caps are regulated there and don't fully reflect the wholesale increase. On continental Europe, they'll really suffer. At least the UK produces half of its gas consumption.
That speaks volumes about the direction of that Europe's heading in the coming years.
