Egypt's presence in the Horn has been rather blurry.
For over 150 years, Egypt has forgotten to visit the Horn, to them (according to Al-Sisi), "the region was insignificant in our eyes".

In their rivalry with Ethiopia, we should always strive to step back if it escalates to a full-on war between these two regional powers.

Yes, the only reason Sisi is visiting Djibouti is because of the ethiopian dam.
Ethiopia's only access to the sea is through Djibouti, so Sisi might want Djibouti to pressure Ethiopia to respect egyptian sovereignty.
But Sisi also came with a plane full of food aid and promised to build a hospital but also a new egyptian bank.
Honestly, Djibouti should stay neutral as always. These dramas between nations are none of our business, we should remain a investment friendly country (Just like the Qatar blockade crisis).

We refuse.
Because we don't have natural ressources, we only rely on investments from other countries and a port. If we have to take a side, we will always side with the most peaceful one (for example a deal between Ethiopia/Egypt).
But hey Somalia did the same when the arab league was pressuring it to take a side during the qatari crisis in 2017.
