Somaliland’s former foreign minister, Edna Adan Ismail, paid a day trip to Paris on Nov. 9. The World Health Organization’s former representative in Djibouti and director of Edna Adan University Hospital met with the head of the Africa and Indian Ocean department of the French foreign ministry, Remi Marechaux, and discussed setting up an Alliance Francaise in Hargeisa. She also met with officials from Medecins du Monde, the Hopital d’Assistance Internationale, and UNESCO. Ismael also spoke with an official from Radio France International about working together on broadcasts aimed at teaching French to Somaliland students. She is not happy about the fact that such programmes are still not available in Hargeisa.

Somaliland should strive to teach English (language of business, science, internet etc.) and Arabic (surrounded by Arab nations/for trade) as a second language(s).

Somaliland isn't even a francophone nation yet this deranged islaan wants the state to force children to learn French?

English and Arabic are much more important since they are both in the top 5 spoken languages in the world and were part of the original curriculum in SL. In Africa it would make sense to learn swahili before French

She has done so much for women. I went to visit her hospital when it was opening

She trained so many midwives which are then sent back to their villages and towns to help their communities.


We need to make a huge statue of her in central hargeisa
