Earth Dam In Puntland

We have 'sand dams' but it's not as effective as an Earth dam' a sub-surface dam so it captures all the rain in a 'storage' . Wells/Barkads are simply not 'best' solution for the large nomadic and livestock population. Wells/Barkads suit GM 45,000 SQ KM goof kkkkk or Isaaq, their simply isn't much ppl nor livestock in such a small 'goof' as they can't survive to grow if their 'land' is too small. This is going to serve our nomadic population but also our 'emerging farming communities.

Yo, have you seen this?
Much more cost effective and requires less manpower. This might work alongside making big water pits like they did in Burtinle. Something tells me that 1+1=11 in this case

@BobSmoke have a look at what china is doing to their 'gobi desert' also but there is some wicked 'tech' out now greening up the desert like 'drone treeing' and 'drone seeding' over large expanses. Their is even a 'paste' that was created to soften the 'soil' enough for seeding if it has become to dry to hold seeding. PL desertification hasn't gone to the point of no return there is still ways to restore the land and we do have this wonderful lady on a greening mission.

Keep your eyes out for stuff that can make PL have forests and Savannah land again.

Yeah, i've checked out what they did in Gobi deserts and the Shaanxi region(from the John D Liu documentary). What they did was something truly special.

One thing that i cant help to look past is the fact there are drought tolerant weeds and shrubs that helps with adding fertility to the soil, many of which are medicinal and nutritious. This could be another way of revenue generation thru selling them as teas or tinctures, or powder that'll be bagged up.

And we're not even talking about the ordinary fruits and veggies.

There's a lot of money to be made, it's just we need to look beyond the typical avenues of money making. Our land is enough for everyone to eat.
As long as there's a cost effective way to go about it and it's wholistic. We must ask ourselves, how can we eat, how we gonna feed the animals and still have a surplus.

I'm thinking like camel ranches, growing drought tolerant superfoods that will improve the wellbeing of the consumer helping the person to perform better in school or work. Medicinal herbs to replace out of date western medicine and save money.
If they grow fast growing drought tolerant teff grass and vetiver grass, the teff is perfect for canjeero and its nutritious as hell for us and the live stock. Vetiver grass is good for the animals to eat on, grows hella fast, firms up the soil and improves water infiltration to the soil.

Bro, look into permaculture. In my opinion that might the solution that might bring peace and prosperity to the average nomad in PL. It will encourage more cooperation and trade between tribes and minimizes bloodshed for water

Unemployment will be non existent in puntland if they focus on land restoration.
