Damn the khaniis higbono is serious for onceThis guy isn't clearly a mind.
Let alone a filmmaker.
When you're making a movie, of course, stereotypes are used to portrait, but they are also crushed.
I'm thinking of Cow Boy movies. The stereotype of the Lone Cowboy, the hero of all the desperate people, and also the lover of the damsels in danger was often used,
but with the appearance of a new subgenre of Western Movies, the Western Spaghetti's, now the hero is a parasite, usually ugly and dark in his behavior and looks, he's the total opposite of the first Western heroes (John Wayne is the perfect Cowboy gentleman).
I don't understand his complaints about the casting of Blacks in Holywood movies. If the stereotypes are "bad" in his opinion, why doesn't he make his own movies?
It's not like ADOS didn't have good film directors, like Spike Lee.
In my humble opinion about Cinema:
Movies, in the beginning, were to show the beauty of Art. Like in George Méliès movies (french director, inventor of Special Effects in films).
It was a mix of Opera, of Theatre, with a zest of everything that can capture the audience's eyes.
With the "Nouvelle Vague" (or Avant-garde French movies, "the New Wave), movies were more realistic, slow, and wanted to portrait Reality as it is.
Showcasing a fight between a Policer Officer and a driver who rebelled against the Officer is realistic.
I really dislike people who just look in Cinema another escapism from their lives.
Films are not Marvellous, they are not to be dreamed on and then forgotten a minute after the projection.
If I make a few scenes of multiple protagonists, antagonists, fighting with swords and turbans near a Mosque, in a Muslim country,
Will it be "racist" to show this? I don't think. Depending on the context, it may even have meaning.
What this man is venting about is making movies in which ADOS are in the spotlight.
Is he trying to forget that in Reality, maybe the Whites in the US are more diverse (in their socio-economics), while most people visualize Blacks as being "in the bottom" of Society?
He, in my opinion, shouldn't be judging, passively, while ignoring that his "community" isn't doing well, far from having a balanced socio-dynamics, like for the whites or other ethnic groups.
If he wants something positive for his community,
he shall make his own movies.
But if his agenda is to just show us a PART of REALITY,
then that is called, commonly, "Propaganda"!
