The concept of not Snitching was probably developed in slavery times for blacks. I'm sure it was intended as a form of solidarity but now it's become rife in the realm of criminality. In effect, you don't snitch even to your own detriment. That's crazy.

This is completely alien to Somalis. We are cooperative with the authorities usually. Now this newer generation of wannabe trapsters have embraced this most adoon of traditions and practice it as if their lives depend on it.

There are people who excel at this and who've developed all sorts of indho-adeyg culture of criminality, where codes exist and blood feuds last for centuries and are inherited by the next generation. Where every kill is a tattoo on your skin. Where honour and respect, or the lack of it, means death.

Look at your typical Somali criminal, they're not hardened enough, seasoned enough nor have the capacity and conviction. Sadly, believing they'll have a way out to change, they are killed in a petty manner not worthy of their perceived street reputation.
