Domestic violence in Somali communities.

I know that Somali women face misogyny in the community a lot of times but one thing that isn’t common speaking from experience is domestic violence. I say this because I haven’t witnessed or I haven’t seen many people who suffer from it. Grown up in our household we were taught that fight, hitting and argue with girls was ceeb by everyone in the family and as we known Somalis are very communal people thus certain ideologies are shared by most of the population. In light of recent discussions on social media, I have notice that large number of girls were complaining about domestic violence in Somali community, so my question is do we have serious problems with domestic violence in the our communities.

Some things are just too ceeb to talk about you don't understand
Like domestic violence?are you kidding maybe in some somali clans,a woman is allowed to complain about anything,e.g a woman left her husband cause he couldnt perform and it was normal,we abused the shit out of the man,but you know what he was cool

A somali woman who is domestically abused according to our culture goes to an elder woman(akhil) in her qabil or her mother or father and complain, and she gets justice, you should research your own culture

One of the most prominent girls doing this was actually married to an Egyptian. He beat the hell out of her for years, turned her family against her, and even had her arrested for domestic abuse!
:hemad:
Her severe self hate illness, tattoos, and alcoholism made her blame and slander Somali men for this.

In general, don't trust xalimos on Twitter. They love attention and self hate to fit in with those beneath us.
