The dude was way ahead of his time.

Accomplishments/ attempted accomplishments:

Food independence

No borrowing from the West

Battling deforestation

Women earning same amount in the work force. Husband sharing their warning with the children and wife. End of circumcision. End of unnecessary dowries

End to Officials blundering state resources. Sold all the fancy cars. Told officials to drive themselves to work. Dealt swiftly with any one caught with corruption.

Changed the country’s name to authentic African name instead of the European bestowed name.

Seized power at 33
Killed at 37

I read a lot about this man, it was a tragedy he died.
His biggest mistake was politically isolating himself from other countries, sure the Soviets and particularly Gaddaffi were threatened by him, but isolating the country wasn't the solution.
His other fault was not having any security, he wanted to live like the common man despite not being the common man.

If he were born earlier when Che Guevara was alive I think he'd have a more favorable outcome.
Burkina Faso could have been a shittier Cuba, the Soviets and communism in general was done by the 80s

The French are for some reason now more than willing to hand over their classified documents on Sankara's assassination. Feels like its some weird ploy and that they've scrubbed off all the incriminating evidence.
Wouldn't be surprised if the verdict of his assassination case was there was no French influence and it implies africans are just retards that can't govern themselves.
Liberia's president Taylor did say he helped kill Sankara, not sure if serious or its an ego boost though.

I’ve always felt that his youthfulness got the better of him. Unfortunately he didn’t live in the information age where he could’ve read about potholes that others before him have fallen victim to. He was on an uncharted water when he came to power at a such a young age.

He was naive and idealistic. He never appreciated the dirty player France was. How France looked at him as a simp. How they never let go of their former colonies.
Here he was thinking he was truly independent. He was oblivious to the nature of money and power. That’s what his best friend seeked and was given to him by France.
Over all we can conclude that Thomas Sankara was genuinely awesome leader but he was just too young and too independently minded that he never forged allies. Like the Somali saying goes “ama buur ahaw amasa tu ku tiirso “ or in other words “either be a mountain or have one to lean on”.

His right hand partner was jealous. Jealousy is a disease walaahi. Watch for it before it destroys another life and eventually your own life :(

Oh absolutely!
Look at the video archives of Thomas Sankara, the traitor is always sitting or walking next to him.

Keep in mind that they came from the same childhood neighborhood. The traitor was destitute that he use to eat meals with the Sankaras.

This is like some Lucifer shit type of thing

France would never allow an ex-colony succeed without them holding some sort of influence.

This is one such example.

This guy was an absolute legend. He brought literacy to from like 5% to over 60% in just 4 years and gave food and water to all his citizens. That's why they killed him.
He showed the world that Africa's problems are actually easier to solve than we think and the west doesn't want any kind of progress

The opposite is the case.

Europeans are terrified of Africa's population boom and poverty leading Africans to come in Europe en masse. I have noticed that since about the mid-2010s it is always is brought up in national political debates, previously it rarely was. The EU wants Africa to develop.

The United States & Israel have some weird geopolitical incentives for a destabilized Africa, but the EU definitely doesn't.

The West is headed by Washington, so they'll continue to have the most impact on this matter and others.

Liberia GDP per capita $583.27 (Free of French influence)

Ivory Coast GDP per capita $2,325.72 (4 times greater, influenced by France)

Nah, the EU and the States have been drifting apart from each other, especially post-Trump.

Just look at the France vs US/UK/AUS geopolitical debacle not too long ago.

You are correct in a way, France even proposed forming a European army and not to depend on America too much. EU also supported France against USA/UK/AUSTRALIA.

You just do not like USA. Just admit it.

You could very well be right; I mean France is pushing for a European army in order to extricate themselves from under the military umbrella of the United States.

NATO members are still unable to conduct large scale military operations without the help of the United States; we saw how quickly they ran out of munitions in the Libya campaign; and how reliant upon American logistics and air power/support their troops were in Afghanistan.

I still think that things will be reset during the post-Trump era and that Washington's power over Europe will be re-asserted.

The fallout from the US/UK/AUS Anglo collab will be contained because it was mostly a commercial affront.

Their geopolitics sucks.

Stop propping up Israel for starters.
