Do your parents have friends of other races or ethinicities?

my parents only mess with somalis. the only people they like are somalis. My parents aren't even FOBs like that, yet they only rock with Somali people. If you aren't somali, then don't talk to them lmao. not even madows people, to them, madows are the exact same as cadaan. They don't believe in "black unity".

They only interact with other people in business scenarios or like general everyday situations, however when it comes to personal life, it's only somalis.

Yeah, a large number of my parents friends are ajnabis.

A lot of my dad’s ajnabi friends are from his university days and or work most of my mums ajnabi friends are through work or the masjid.

I grew up having to call people from Uganda, Burma, China etc as adeer and eedo.

:damn:

No my mom hates ajnabis and gaalos, like she despises them. My father is a bit more liberal with that stuff but he still doesn’t have ajnabi friends.

My mother doesn't believe in having close friends. But she's very friendly to random strangers, and willingly exchanges entire life stories with random women she meets lol. Both ajnabi and Somali.

My mom has madow friends, she can't stand cadaans. Mostly hangs out with other Somali women

It actually explains why a lot Somalis on this site have the views they do.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, if your parents didn’t have open mind with friendship circles, then how can the children?

The exchange of cultures, ideas and beliefs from having family friends from other countries enriches people to be more open-minded. As a child, I used to regularly see my father debate people over lunch about religion or cultural topics.

my mum mostly speak with other somali women although my mum did have a ivorian friend from work and used to be friends with a North Sudani family who used to live close by, she can speak arabic.

My parents friends, those who they hang out with, are in regular contact etc are somalis but they do have some acquintances who are not somali. If they see them on the street they would have conversation.

My dad has a lot of Paki/Syrian/Malaysian/Sudani collegues so I grew up around their families. My mom just sticks to other Somali women

I barely have non Somali friends lol, same goes for my sisters, brothers, parents. I don’t even let non Somalis enter my house.

No they do not for what? They would have nothing to talk about. My parents are religious Don’t think a white guy in his 50s with a girl friend of 5 years would be something they relate to.
