Do you think the Somali culture does not allow someone to have integrity?

Considering the atrocities committed against Somalis in Somalia. Why do clan elders and leaders not punish those moryaans or warlords that committed human rights violations against civilians from 1978-until now. Can someone explain to me how come their was never a real truth and reconciliation conference between the various clans in Somalia. South Africa had a conference as well as Rwanda but not Somalia? Is the clan hatred between Somalis so deep that the Somali mind cannot think of a higher loyalty like ethnics and morality which do not enter the Somali dialog?

Why can't Somalis acknowledge that they had a bad leadership between 1969 until 1991. And as with all dictatorships they commit human right abuses. Why can't Somalis look objectively and say this mess we are in is a result of bad leadership and in order to learn from this we need decent educated and honest leaders. Faysal Waraabe of Somaliland speaks alot of sense (even though he sometimes insults people). He is honest in his criticism of leadership and we need more of this and not less. Why have we waited 30 years for a meeting between Somaliland and Somalia? Because of the anarchy in Mogadishu? This is no excuse and any safe city could have acted as a temporarily capital and hosted a unity government until Mogadishu was sorted out. Is it not interesting that when chaos came to Somalia we did not meet it with civilised behaviour and tackle this challenge as honourable people and find a solution to the crises. However, we decided instead to destroy our country for petty reasons.

England and Germany are first world countries with functional institutions. They can afford to live anywhere in the world as their homeland supports them. Somalis have no choice but to be refugee in another country because Somalia is too poor and unsafe.

I’m tryna figure what you’re point is, you’re calling a country “finished beyond redemption” without understanding that people have always valued clan over they’re nation. The nationality concept didn’t even before 1960.

These weirdos have petty beefs dating back to 1700s. How in the hell would this meeting go? They’re going to have to start from Adam and Eve. Not to mention most of the clan skirmishes are intraclan.

Most of the people are using their victimization to score points and gain power. If every party doesn’t have the same goal (justice and reconciliation) it would be a pointless task.

Then there would be the various groups that would protest it and say hebel na ma mateelo. Bruh Somalis are annoying and deserve the conditions they are in x100000

So you are saying that Somali culture cannot allow someone with integrity to exist let alone have political power? You start any project by making sure that the people involved have integrity and come together based on a constructive idea that yields results and not emotional hogwash.

We are not going anywhere without education. That should be our number 1 priority right now. Educate these people. Jahilnimo ba nafda ka qaadi. Once they are educated we can move on forward. They also need money. The diaspora can be leaders in their community with the power of money and aim to make somalia a better place.

There is no accountability when the members of tribes exhibiting anti-social behaviour are protected or in some cases celebrated.

Somalis are just following their primordial instincts of my clan good your clan bad (unless we're allied). People used to do this back in antiquity. Somalis were rarely united until recent history or for a religious cause. We were organized as clans, it's how we governed ourselves and we haven't parted with this. Is it counterproductive in state building, absolutely.

Will getting rid of clans obviate our issues probably note. Clans will continue to exist but there needs to be movement from taking center stage in politics to being merely ceremonial in importance and demonstrating relations between Somalis.
