Thats what I was basing it off of Dir number ~ 2 million give or take a similiar amount to most clans.

Djibouti, my favorite post independence Somali state. They played their cards right and screw over their colonial masters with tact. When IOG leave I hope the next president eradicates corruption & poverty. Nonetheless, they kept a functioning sovereign state in the middle of the troubled region called HoA.

There is also the Eritrean threat whith their already land grabbing from djibouti not to mention they can instigate civil war and back Afars who also live in Eritrea in large numbers but politically marginalized by Tigrinas to stir shit up.
it might also explain why Afeworki courted Farmaajo which i think is to exert pressure on Djibouti and box them in which low IQ Farmaajo may not grasp. UAE is mad at Djibouti for kicking them out and using Eritrea to control Farmajo since they r beefing with turkey and Qatar. the only way Djib can/ will survive in the future is to both politically and economically integrate with Kilil 5 even if there is no full union or it'll cease to exist and That's why i am hypothesizing a scenario where a merger is a win win for somali region and Djibouti.

Afars aspiration for statehood that emerges from the Afar Triangle is unattainable for the forseeable future but they are a great tool to use as a proxy to contain Pax Somaliana
