For example, if a Somali child was diagnosed with autism, Somali parents would say, Isha ayaa ku dhacay, and he only needs Quraan saar to treat his condition. There are so many fake, self-proclaimed Somali sheikhs running rampant in our community. These fake sheikhs are con artists and scam people of their hard-earned money. They often prey on vulnerable members of our community, particularly women who have gone through a traumatic experience, are encountering severe hardships, or are suffering from mental health issues.

Instead of telling them to go seek treatment from a professional doctor, they are exploiting them to their own advantage. Most of them have a history of abuse and sexual assault. These sheikhs are unqualified and don't possess credentials to teach the Quran or Islamic studies.

These fake sheikhs are not diagnosing cases of mental health issues and autism as evil eyes or Jinn possession. Wallahi, there needs to be a regulatory body for these con-artist sheikhs.
