I know someone who went to Djibouti in 2015 and they saw a lot of Yemenis who werenβt locals. That was the year the Houthis tried to capture Aden, and I think thatβs when people started to come to Djibouti and SomaliaInteresting so many of them arrived recently I've been to Berbera, Hargeisa, Burco, Borama and Mogadishu back in 2011 as a young kid and I never saw them before so I was wondering what Arab community were these guys talking about![]()

Theyβve been here for a long time now, there are old records of Yemeni merchants that migrated to Somalia to do trade on the Coast.Interesting so many of them arrived recently I've been to Berbera, Hargeisa, Burco, Borama and Mogadishu back in 2011 as a young kid and I never saw them before so I was wondering what Arab community were these guys talking about![]()
Theyβve been here longer than that apparently, albeit in small communities concentrated near the Coast. At first, I thought the Yemenis only came in our final years after their war, but I discovered I was wrong. They had been there since the 1960s and the days of Siad Barre, and some of them were also teachers, and they would throw parties among themselves and host Arab singers as well.
