Do Somali kids suffer EMOTIONAL ABUSE from their mothers from all the yelling and threats?

I was an extremely well behaved child so I was never given any emotional or physical abuse. Hands were never laid on me.

If you just listened to your parents, I don't think there would be any problems kids would face.

Confirmed: White Male living in the UK who pretends to be Somali in his spare time.

According to Somali twitter, growing up as a Somali child was basically hell

Clearly her mother wasn't strict enough since she dares to not wear the hijab.

No, they don't. Somali parents are like any other African parents that push their kids to succeed and become successful. If you can't handle constructive criticism, then they need to evaluate themselves, as constructive criticism is needed to make changes in life.

What do you think she means by emotional abuse? Just criticism?

Yes, just criticism. Somali parents aren't some evil parents that are threatening and yelling at you 24/7, unless you were a horrible child. Somali parents are always kind and loving. This girl is just looking for retweets.

Somali people on twitter look for anything to complain about. Perpetual victims nacala :comeon:

Now they're throwing their own hooyos under the bus, that struggled like crazy to bring them up into the people they are today. No respect akhas :pacspit:

I laughed uncontrollably when I saw the faces of the Somali girls who retweeted and liked her tweet.

Exactly. Every parent criticizes their own child every now and then, they should be grateful that they weren't born into a desi family where they're getting beat up every day. I have south asian friends and the stories they tell me about their parents (esp their fathers) make Somali parents look like angels wallah. Somali culture doesn't normalize abuse and it's annoying that some thirsty-for-retweets sjw's are trying to make it seem like the opposite.

I concur. These women don't know how good they have it. South Asian/Indian parents are the worst.

Parents, especially from Eastern cultures, can/do negatively effect their kids sometimes (albeit unintentionally)...tough love isn't for everyone:manny:.

However, I think calling it "emotional abuse" is going waaay too far...

Her twitter handle literally says "overdramatique" though, so I'm not surprised. :mjlol:

These girls will say and do anything for attention. If she has had issues with her mom, she should talk about herself and experience. But of course not, they always have to extend their problems to the rest of us. Somali twitter and youtube has proved that having a child isn't always a blessing. Sometimes they turn out to be walking neefs without a mind of their own.
