Youssouf Warsama Youssouf, a 17-year-old second-year student at the Djibouti State High School, recalled the moment he started developing an interest in studying Mandarin in a recent interview with Xinhua.

"I remember years ago, a Chinese tourist couple asked me something in Chinese, but I could not help them, so I pointed to a policeman standing on the street. Somehow, he understood their question and helped them, and I felt really bad I could not help them," Youssouf said.

"Djibouti is in a good relationship with China, and I hope there will be a lot more tourists in the future. Now that I have improved my Chinese, I could probably lend them a hand if they ask me to and that works both ways," Youssouf said, revealing his wish of visiting China in the nearest possible future.

Mahamoud underscored that learning and mastering the Chinese language will open a wider window of opportunities for Djiboutian youth and enable them to acquire further education and training opportunities.

Nasri Mohamed Hassan, a second-year student at Gabode Technical High School, is also studying the Chinese language.

Hassan, 16, believes developing a better command of the Chinese language will enable him and fellow Djiboutian youth to study in China and broaden their future career opportunities.

"The relationship between Djibouti and China is already playing a very important role for students," Hassan said. "I want to study in China and come back with more knowledge to help develop our country."

"Students from different schools are now learning the Chinese language here at home in Djibouti through this institute. I am sure this opportunity will allow them to apply to big Chinese universities," the minister told Xinhua. "Certainly, we will have students who will come out of the best Chinese universities and return here to participate in our development endeavors." Enditem

From French kastuumo to Chinese kastuumo, what a progress
We Djiboutians need a somali nationalist uprising. I promise you the only ones who do this are the elites, the average ciise Djiboutian considers somali and language to be superior. Or at least the older gen I regularly talked to..

Chinese "debt trap neocolonialism" is a myth pushed by the West so that they can further their hegemony within Africa and continue to propagate Sinophobia. The terms of Chinese loans are much more favourable than those from the IMF/World Bank. The US will give you food aid so that your populace can continue to breed like rats and live in perpetual squalor and destitution. The Chinese will build you infrastructure that allows your country to grow and develop.

Who cares if the youth learn Mandarin? If anything it is a positive. Mandarin will prove to be one of three crucial business languages (English, Arabic and Mandarin) in a decades time

according to polling I saw, Africans who live in Africa prefer China and Russia over the West.

I remember years ago, I was suggesting that it would be better for Muslims to align themselves with Russia and China versus the West and people were so up in arms against my view on China. I got a lot of hate comments and accusations of being a Chinese shill because apparently if your view of China isn't identical to that of the US government, you must therefore be a Chinese shill or I guess a sellout... it's being a sellout to deviate from the US government line... supposedly.

anyways, I remember how isolated my view was. my view was very fringe. I've watched as my view has gotten less and less fringe and this board has gotten more and more pro-China. my view has become much more mainstream.

meanwhile to my understanding, according to polling, Africans who live in Africa are leaning more in favor of China. so the hardline anti-China position to me it seems more like a thing of diaspora living in the West and is something slowly receding amongst even this demographic.

there are certain elements who basically support whoever seems stronger. so a lot of people just support the West or have supported the West because of the West seeming strong. but as China gets stronger and the West getting weaker, these elements I believe will be increasingly in favor of China because they just support whoever seems strong at the moment.

I think there are some Uncle Ruckus from the Boondocks elements who are very soft with the West and attack dogs when it comes to China... but if people want to be ruled by whites, I think they have a right to demand to be ruled by whites. but myself as someone who isn't of that type.... I lean more towards China because China isn't nearly as imperialistic as the West imo. I don't see China trying to treat others like their colonies and China doesn't go around invading other countries in the way the West does. but for me, not being someone's colonial slave is something important... other people might like being treated by whites in that kind of way... some people are into those kinds of weird fetishes, what do I care

just the way you come at me sideways shows how correct I am... you come at me with the sideways remark instead of refuting what I said because you really can't... I don't admire Xi Jinping, I just want China to serve as a counterweight to the the West

that wasn’t a sideways comment lmao.

You’re too defensive. I highkey agree with you.

China is definitely needed to end Western Tyranny.

Hopefully it doesn’t become the case of switching slave masters and more like widening options.

ah ok, I misunderstood what you meant. I don't believe at all that working with China will be a case of switching slave masters and the reason is....

I don't think China is interested in invading and overthrowing governments in the way the West is. I don't think it's ever going to be that China demands you bow down or else they do you like Gaddafi. I don't know of any case where that's ever happened.

I know a bunch of Chinese people and I see their character. they're not really these warlike belligerent people and they don't have the European imperialist mindset. now, granted what I've said might not apply if we're talking about countries that directly border China. I wouldn't be surprised if China took an imperialistic approach towards countries on its immediate borders. but outside of its immediate vicinity, I doubt they'll ever be like the West and go around threatening and invading countries on the other side of the world.
