Yes, they always dressed like lamagoodle. Look at any 19th-century or early 1900s picture of Reer Xamar. They look and dress exactly like the Bedouin Somalis, only some Ashraaf & actual Arabs wore sewn clothes and skull caps.

Shariif Caydaruus differentiating between mainstream Somalis(Hawiye, Dir, and Darood) and Benadiris, doesn't mean he recognizes the latter as non-Somalis. If you closely look at his book, he shows how most Benadiri clans have Somali origins.

No he doesn't show that "most" banadiri clans have samaale origin, if you're talking about him breaking down origin of the alliances then most of them are large families rather than clans they all claim to be from certain clans in the interior

Gibil madow means people of darkskin origin, both Madow and jileec are included

Only people you'd see that dressed as lamagoodles were the families that are originally from the interior who's ancestors were once nomads , for example you'll see pictures of the hawiye abgaal reer Cali Imaam dressed in their traditional attire
