What are the state and federal authorities doing to help them?
Haven't seen much being done yet. Just seen loads of meetings but not enough action.

One thing they have done is relocating people especially idps to dry areas where flooding hasn't reached. Also they have housed some people in the ADC which is a big building in Baydhabo used for political reasons.

This issue could soon turn into a humanitarian crisis. Many people homes have been flooded, causing the food to be washed away with the flood water. So also food aid is going to be required.

Just looked up, and it seems the government is not capable of handling the flooding by themselves and want help from the public to ease the aftermath. Unfortunately, 40 people have already lost their lives.

Maryan Mohamed Hussein, the Minister of State for Health of the Somali government and a recently appointed Relief Committee member, emphasized the focus on preventing waterborne diseases, especially as the crisis persists in Jubbaland and the South-West States. She added that the government alone could not adequately address the El Nino-induced flash floods in the country and called on the people to play their role in the rescue efforts.

Yes, I've also heard that from the ground as well. The more wealthier people are allowing the masaakeen to live in their house for the short term untill the flood dries up.

Imagine people who don’t have place to sleep and cook for over week. Swimming in flood water mixed with sewage and critters. I wouldn’t be suprised if numbers spike soon due to illness and hunger
