With recent terrorist attacks in Europe, boarding controls significantly changed. So they aren't lax as they used to be, especially if you've an Arabic name.

I would expect this to happen in any other european airport.. but not really in Amsterdam..
But with all the things that has happened lately, you will pretty much expect stuff like this too happen.

Do you think he embellished his story a bit too? It was a little wordy in places. I've been given a full body pat down, asked to remove my socks in a little cubicle room and had metal detectors used on me but I didn't see it as out of place seeing as planes are exploding mid air due to someone not being searched properly. Also people smuggle drugs through the airport too. Why shouldn't searches be OK I don't want to diiiieeee or share a plane with a drug smuggler.
