Did somalia give charity to poor Arab countries in the past?

I've Heard multiple times this claim about somali people giving zakat or Charity money to poor arab nations in the past. I've also come across this video where an arab Sheikh says Somalis used to give charity to arabs 100 years ago and even helped the city of Medina during a famine.

Is this true? Does anyone have other evidence of this , maybe some books or articles? The Sheikh mentioned a list of somalis who donated gold and livestock to arabs in medina.

I heard stories of them coming to berbera back in the days begging for food since arab countries where not blessed with lifestocks. But again thats the past and somalis should not live of that. These new arabs dont give a f*ck if you helped them 100 years ago :mjlaugh:

We still help them. I'm pretty surprised that so many arab Syrians and Yemenis live in Xamar , PL and Somaliland.

Yes, here is a receipt of my family in Ceerigabo, Somaliland sending money to our Arab brothers in their times of need

It is well known Somalis used to donate to the gulf whenever they were struck by famine.

The Sheikhs there talk about it all the time.

When you give to your brothers and sisters, do it for Allaah's sake, not expecting or wanting anything from humans. On the scariest day, the day of terrors, the day of judgement, only your deeds can save you, and you'll/we'll want all the good deeds that we can get.
Now that the arab states are doing well, relatively speaking, they need to help out somalia and others.
