Did Agaws come from the north or south of the horn?

I know that Eastern Cushites came from the arid regions of somaliweyne a long time ago but what about Agaws?

Agaws are highlander Central Cushites. The habasha are Assimilated Agaw.

All cushites migrated from Sudan southwards so obviously they migrated south into Highlands and settled there. Possibly cushites would've came into the Somali peninsula through Eritrea and going through Hararghe-Bale region.

Yeah i wasn't sure if they came from Eritrea down or if they were just Eastern Cushites that pushed further north. So these Habesha are really just the same people as Southerns, just with more arab ancestry, that's crazy. No wonder Afars group with Agews , it seems they are just Arabized Agaws

Alot of them were still agew not very long ago. Especially in Amhara region and some parts that got taken by Oromo. People forget the Amhara were doing their own little expansion. Amhara crusaders were taking over pagan Agew lands and force Christianising the region and making them Amhara. It's why alot of them the the deep interior don't have too much semetic admixture compared to the ones closer to coast and the tigrayans & tigre.

Amhara crusading around the region also affected Amhara/Habash Muslim groups who escaped into the lowlands like argobba into Ifat. These same refugees now claim Adal & Ifat as theirs and try hotep Somalis.

I have a book somewhere about the remaining agaws, these guys still have Cushitic traditions even after so many centuries of assimilation. Maybe we can make them muslim

The Zagwe dynasty that ruled Ethiopia after Axum were Agew Cushites. Before zagwee were overthrown by Amhar-Tigrayan Solomid.
