@Shamis sand dam is used to stop running water across dry rivers and store it underground. when people need water they just dig the ground or use hand pumps.
its safe and clean water. if used large scale the land will be green and lush year round and no draughts or famine will be heard ever.

No it is a sand dam. Reservoir costs a lot more and the ground is concrete along with the
walls. Sand dam is a cheaper alternative that is mostly used in Somali areas and other
parts of Africa.

it might but its temporary reservoir so people will take the water and store somewhere else.
the water wont sink overnight but will stay there like till the next rainy season arrives and then the cycle continues. but it depends on how much rain run off the dry river that season

yes seasonal rivers. they will just pump the water from the river transport it in jerry cans donkey cart water barrels. they store it on berkads etc.

Got it. So it stores the run off from the rivers and rainwater. It would be really useful in those areas where there's heavy flooding.
