Contrary to the popular belief, the world is heading towards underpopulation. Fertility rates have falled dramatically after 2015 outside of Africa and Africa too is showing signs of declining fertility, albeit slowly.
This is the most important tidbit. Africa will likely not in my opinion reach the figure given for 2100. Longterm population projections are basically suugo science, so lets just stick with what we know.
The 2050 figure seems spot on. However, with the world becoming more conservative recently, this will affect Africa. Who knows what will happen. Most countries will probably not legalise abortion and attitudes towards womans role will stay in place for a while. Also in places where young girls education is lacking, the fertility transition will take longer.
South Africa, the most developed SSA country had the fertility rate of 2.88 in 2000 and only declined to 2.41 in 2020. I expect a similar trend for most countries in the continent.
Also take everything the account I linked with a bit of salt. He is biased towards white people.
@GemState what do you think will happen in the coming years?
