Iranian-backed Houthis have been attacking ships since November. Its affecting world trade & costing billions. Somaliland is a peaceful region near the red sea. If chaos spreads there things could get even worse. Strategically its in the West (and rest of worlds) best interest to ensure Somaliland and rest of Somalia to some degree remains relatively stable and not become anarchy.

Doubt it. Probably hurting somali ports and causing price of items to go up. Having peace on redsea benefits everyone. Hard for anyone to benefit from piracy and attacks
