Clan elders.

Well I recently learned about the process used to pick Somali politicians and its through the approval of their clan elders. Who the f are these people? have you tried reaching out to them? These people have authority to appointing people who run country that receives 2 billion dollars in aid (50% of which disappears) according to a documentary made by DW. These people appointed the people who stole 70% of the 55 billion dollars if aid Somalia received between 1991 and 2011. I heard they would appoint for as little as 15k dollars. Tell me again why are you leaving the whole game for your clan elders? You live a 0 hour to 4 hour flight away from the capitals of the nations that pay Somalia's bills why wouldn't you be more politically active and engaged (as a group)? These clans elders wouldn't hesitate to call and ask for hundreds of thousands of dollars to save a murderer but would never ask us to do something productive with this kind of money. I think it's time for us to get the steering wheel from these low iq idiots :denzelnigga:

What annoys me to no end is that these clan elders don't consult their constituents when they make their decisions or when they handpick their puppets aka MPs. It gets even more concerning when you learn that these positions are passed from father to son for generations, sometimes to another man, but it stays in the same family.

I'm sure in the past, they probably sat with their clans and consulted with them, things have changed so the clan elder system must modernise or be abolished.

Puntland's Elders saved us after the Civil war, but it wasn't just them, it was politicians, military leaders, businessmen and other members of society. People need to remember that clan elders aren't an island, there are a lot of people who are not credited for what they do.

You don't need to modernise the traditional system, we should make it less used, people use what ever system is robust and works for them, its like 2 roads leading to the same place, if one road is well maintained as opposed to the other, you guess it, people will take the better road. No reason to destroy the old road without having build the new road.

Anyway, I say 1m1v and further regulation of MPs is the future.
