Civil war enters second year in Ethiopia

T

he distance from the tip of raya to mekelle is literally 120km why are you saying it like it’s an achievement you’ve barely gained any territory in raya whatsoever other than alamata that isn’t even confirmed yet

What are you talking about? Western Tigray is fully liberated. Raya is fully liberated including Alamata. From the north Shire is gone and now Axum is next. Today the army is in Mahoni (120 KM south of Mekele). Alamata is confirmed what the hell are you talking about?

What's the ethnic makeup of the Ethiopian millitary? It sounds like it's dominated by Amhara. I doubt Tigray will fight their own people, and Oromo and Amhara have their own fued.

It sounds like an ethnic dictatorship, with one faction having access to heavy weapons.

The numbers are as follows:
1. Amhara
2. South
3. Oromo
4. Tigray

That is why I love a prolonged war.
This criminals are fighting over who should oppress other ethnic groups and use the resources.

The gold mines in Oromia
The Coffee farms of Oromia
Most of Agriculture is in Oromia
The dam in Beni Shangul and Gumuz region
The Ogaden Oil& Gas

What have they xabashis have to offer?
Zero

I said you didn’t gain much in raya which is true alamata is a boarder town you hardly pushed much the western front isn’t even tigray land it’s occupied land your approaching the Tigray mainland now. Friendly reminder, give up while you still can amara can’t defeat tegaru never have historically which is why welkait and raya fell to tigray in the first place. You will never be approaching mekelle in a week not even a year. The TPLF will win this trust me lol amara farmers can’t do much and the military will probably end up fighting itself soon. All in all watch out, your approaching the heartland of Tigray, be ready for a battle and futher more defeat. Ethnic tigrinya land hasn’t been touched this don’t forget not a single amara farmer has entered tegaru land it’s all shared land and occupied territory. The game begins now

Let's honest the TPLF is the strongest and most politically adept faction outside of the government, it's not really a regional puppet state and would of stood in the way of the Prosperity Party centralization efforts to modernise the country.

Getting rid of the TPLF = Goodbye Federal Ethiopia

It would of been to risky to go ahead with such centralization plans while the TPLF existed, as it could of led a rebellion like it did in the 90's. This is a chess game.

Still a 100+ km from the capitol lol, meanwhile Abiy in every update makes it sound like this is gonna wrap up quick. Tigrays are giving them a tough fight.
That's after two weeks of bombardments and infantry movements. Remember @xabashi initial claiming that Tigray would be finished in few days? Waiting for her third and forth re-assessment.

Now federal troops will be fighting in the heart of Tigray. The terrain is hilly/mountainous which is an advantage for TPLF. I didn't see federal artillery being moved to the front lines. That's what is usually used to soften enemy's defense lines before infantry assault.

Here is the landscape around the towns of Shire and Alamata in Tigray where the fighting is taking place at the moment. It won't be a cake walk for feds.

Exactly. Oromos fighting for the feds are literally fighting for erasing Oromia from the map of Ethiopia.

Looks like a nightmare terrain to fight in, the defensive force would have an advantage, especially if they hold the high ground as it would allow them to cut off the roads.

However the fact Ethiopia has an airforce will likely nullify that advantage, as we saw in Ngorno - Karabakh recently. It's tough to win when the other side controls the skies.

Without precision munition the air force will be ineffective as costs will mount. Just a handful of Tigrayan fighters can hold up Abiy's infantry and tanks for days on at the natural mountain bottlenecks. Considering Tigray has about 250,000 fighters, the feds will have to sacrifice a lot of soldiers as they will have to climb every single mountain where fire comes from and engage in direct fire fight.
