I don't know why SL still claims those regions. The disputed area does not include them as a party anymore. Eventually, the fluid situation currently happening will be resolved and it'll just look weird.

Because their entire case for independence relies on having control of the entire North including new North-Eastern state. Without that, they would have no case for recognition.
