“These label you shove in my faces like …’Qurba-joog’, ‘ Feminist’, ‘African” “Wadani”, don’t mean fucking shit here. Here you wear only one label; the one your father wore, his father, and his father before him. No one gives a shit if you don’t believe in ‘clans’-the clan believes in you, because it made you. Every identity you flaunt before your kin is words you learned in the white man’s school books. In the classrooms of the white man you burden, who took you in, after ‘they’ chased you out. My dear, these labels are nothing but clean shirts worn over the letters embalmed in your chest. If you remove each layer of shirt, and lay bare your ungrateful flesh; You will find only four letters: SSDF. That is your bloodline and your nucleus, a bloody fucking Majerteen. You will do well to remember that, as it will be that nucleus that will save you when all other labels fail you.”

Its too woke for me to comprehend. I dont understand nor respond to that level of intellect. ill revise this post when i read a 20th time and finally understand what her point was. apparently I'm MJ and white people created qabils :damnmusic:

I think the major problems holding back Somalis are two:

  1. Distrust - two men will have a squabble between them and when an INDIViDUAL ends up killing another, it'll turn to full blown qabiil war with political ramifications. You can't have a fight in Somalia without your entire qabiil somehow being responsible and punishable for your crimes.
  2. Following on from this there is a worrying lack of loyalty to the state, region or anything whatsoever among somalida. If they feel they're being misrepresented by not having a gazzilion MPs, they'll lash out. If they feel like they're last in the que for development/ infrastructure, again, despite being a tiny tuulo with a tinier population, expect more of the same or they'll set up rival parties, join another state etc. If there's short term financial benefit elsewhere again they'll switch sides. And the government just aims to appease everyone which makes governance and development virtually impossible because there's no pleasing some folks. Meanwhile, Europeans survived horrific (starving) conditions in two world wars and still managed to stay ahead of the game. The buulshad, to an extent, can make or break a country.
