can khat be grown in somalia?

I know it isn't native to somalia but surely it can be grown there?:cosbyhmm:

it's a billion dollar idea. Since somalis won't stop chewing, why not keep the money in somalia instead of giving hundreds of millions to Kenyans and Ethiopians?

If it can be grown in sanaag, why haven't people tried it?

You'll be a millionaire less than a year.
I don’t know really you’d have to ask Beesha Warsangeli and Habar Yoonista :cosbyhmm:
It would be great for Somalia to be self-sufficient but khaat is a disease for Somali people and deserves to be eradicated throughout all Somali territories.
Somalis can’t handle qat they are not disciplined nor have the will power gaalo can go to the pub on the weekend and show up to work Monday no problem thats near impossible for a geeljire to do:drakelaugh:

The first guy to cultivate khat in somali soil, distribute and monopolise on the commodity , will become the richest guy in the nation.

If then the government made it illegal to import khat from kenya and ethiopia, the monopolist in the somali soil could raise the price high to limit the consumpition from buyers.

Then you hit two birds with one stone. On one hand you create jobs for people and the flow of money is kept domestically, and consumers spending their money on the drug actually leads to eoconomic growth. Compared to now where our neighbours are capitalizing on our addictions.

And on the other hand, you raise the price high enough so many people can't afford it, and eventually you'll see a trend of people quitting khat to live within their financial means.

Just a thought.

@Ferrari You don't know Somalis that much

They eat Pasta and rice too much, but you don't see em planting wheat

There is a 3333 square km Ocean, yet you only see a smalll amount of people craving for fish /kheyraatka badda)..

The only ones who are involved in fish activity mainly, are the ones selling... and also the consumers= southern part most

Go tell a Somali in Africa/Somalia if he/she likes fish.. majority will give you a look of disgust. Weird people:siilaanyolaugh:

lol, Yemen is an excellent example of why we shouldn’t grow khat in Somalia:
