It's not because we are not "smart" enough. It is because Somalis were really rich people who could afford to eat meat everyday. White people could never afford to eat meat everyday so they eat anything they can find. The Chinese are also like this, which is why they eat weird stuff.

The cushitic fish taboo isn't about being smart, nomad somalis didn't eat seafood cause the lived in the interior but Somalis who lived in the coastal towns used to eat seafood and fish a lot way before cadaans came over. 14th century explorer ibn battuta mentioned that the city of Zeila in Somalia was extremly smelly because local somalis used to eat a lot of fish. This was 500 years before cadaans came to Somalia.
