I am a little confused as to who exactly is a Jew. I am of the impression that there are such thing as atheist Jews. To my understanding, a Jew is defined by their ancestry irrespective of their actual belief. But I think I saw something from one of those anti-Zionist jews that was arguing that this is actually not correct.

Me too. I think we can put Jewish people into two categories. Those that are practicing ethic jews and those are Jewish by heritage alone. I think the jews that are practicing are more credible than the simply ethnic jews. I read somewhere that this spit is due to Jewish faith being reformed so many times, that those of European heritage would hide their faith and their ancestors would be the non religious type. It's all a bit confusing.
