I'd say this is an inside job to alleviate the current tumultuous political pressure on Israel by most of their allies. The recent joint statement by UK, Canada and France hit the Israelis hard, and showed the seriousness of their allies to stop the war on Gaza. Now the Israelis are killing their own embassy staff members to obtain some form of sympathy from their dubious allies.
