Madaxweyne Laftagareen oo sheegay in sannadkan ay rabaan in ay wax hoggaamiyaan
"This year we do not want to be led and we want to lead. "We want to decide the fate of Somalia and where it is going so that we are not called and led by others," he said.
Sunday, March 27, 2022 (HOL) - The President of the South West State of Somalia, Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen, last night attended a farewell ceremony for the South West MPs representing the two houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.
The event was also attended by members of federal and administrative commissions, traditional elders and many of the delegates who participated in the last election.
Speaking at the event in Baidoa, President Laftagareen urged lawmakers to show unity, goodwill, confidence, honesty and co-operation among themselves.
"This year we do not want to be led and we want to lead. "We want to decide the fate of Somalia and where it is going so that we are not called and led by ourselves," he said.
He said he was particularly pleased that the 77 lawmakers in the South-West had all been elected, and that he had awarded certificates to each of them, indicating that he had fulfilled his final duties.
"Now that the election process is over, what we are waiting for is them. They must fulfill their constitutional duty, ”he added.
It is noteworthy, however, that some of the members who were awarded certificates by the President yesterday have been suspended by the FEIT at the federal level.
The Federal Electoral Commission (FEIT) will issue an official certificate and ID cards by April 14th.
