Break family bond

Is it allowed to break family bond if the parent have not talked to the child in 8 years or more?

Abu Huraira reported: A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, I have relatives with whom I try to relate but they cut me off. I treat them well, but they treat me badly. I am forbearing with them, but they are harsh with me.” The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

لَئِنْ كُنْتَ كَمَا قُلْتَ فَكَأَنَّمَا تُسِفُّهُمُ الْمَلَّ وَلاَ يَزَالُ مَعَكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ ظَهِيرٌ عَلَيْهِمْ مَا دُمْتَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ ‏
If it is as you say, then it is as if you threw hot ashes at them. Allah will be with you as a supporter as long as you remain like so.

Thanks for the hadith Akhi lakin my dad did the "anuel trip" to somalia. lol and that nigga did not return since and bulid a whole new life and cut us off

He broke the bond so why should I not?

Idk try texting him every now and then if u can.
If hes off the grid then u cant do anything just get on with ur life. If hes one of those dads that just cut and never came back then maybe ask a scholar or ur imam if ur supposd to try and contact him or u an just ignore

Ngl i dont know any I gotta ask a friend of a friend to ask for me 50% of the time they dont eve ask the other 50% it takes a month.
Ask someone here on someone uno if they know any Islamic teachers or something who could answer ur question.
