19 roads totalling 56 km will be built this year in Bosaso according to Deni. It is a huge undertaking, I am not sure they will finish it this year but as long as they build we should be good.

Mashallah I was just watching on YouTube- amazing vision and the way Deni spoke about the laascaanood issue was very eloquent and dignified. Can someone add the YouTube videos…

All in all I am very excited about the future of bosaso

I like the fact we have de-facto clan militias in these times like las anod where the PL govt can tell the world, it's forces are not active and their not which is true, while clan militia can mobilize and smoke some SNM. I heard SL casualty is so high, their resorting to using 'coastguards', their no coast in las anod loooooool

Clan militias are in the long run in state building not very good. When a clan disagrees with the state they can take military action, case in point garowe 2023.

In Somaliland clans don’t have armed forces, which means the state doesn’t have to fear militarised uprising case in point Garxajis getting humiliated since the 90s without any sign of repercussions as they have been demilitarised many years ago.

Sometimes the state needs to make a difficult decisions without a potential full scale war with a section of its citizens…

My beel In xarfo are so heavily weaponised they can persona non grata puntland state in xarfo region..not!!! Good!!! This needs to change in Puntland.

this is one area that somaliland is ahead of Puntland which needs to be acknowledged and learned from.

That's what I thought admiring SL demobilization but then I also saw it's weakness, their behest to the state, which can also mean a single point of collapse, it can allow for tyranny also as the american preach.

This mentality of 'hal meel wax kasto ku aruri' is against out 'federalist' principle also not in just politics but even our economic development follows that federal strategy, why not our 'security'? Yes their is concerns when the clan militia is stronger then the state 'army', but do we want to risk, putting all our 'eggs' into one place security wise.

Maybe we need to create a 'middle ground' solution between SL demobilization and our 'federal' culture, where we don't go to extreme in enpowering the state security and we dont go to the other extreme of having all powerful clan militias. I wish a messiah comes for PL that can provide the perfect middle ground solution ensuring our state army is sufficient.

This will require a puntland-wide pact first with our ISIMO, to bring together clan militia large weapons into designated storage areas across the region and only allowing 'isimo' as a whole have this 'power' when it's released. The key is it cannot be over-ridden by one isimo, it has to be 'veto' system between themselves when the state has gone rogue or state army need 'resupply' in the event of war.

As for light weapons rurally, that is another story

@whitehartlane when I take over the helm of my clan isim role, I will try to speak to the other isim about leaving behind a better security environment for all our clans while also respecting we don't want to centralize all our weapons towards the 'state' giving it all powers to go tyrannical, I hope we can work out the best middle ground solution I hope.

It's one of the big areas I want to tackle for the whole region.

The city needs proper roads desperately and it needs trees planted alongside those roads. The trees will cool down the city during the summer months

@whitehartlane it's not easy topic to ask clans to hand over their weapons knowing what happened with siyad barre plus post 91 chaos, but im sure their is reasonable ppl in our isimo who know the current arrangement isn't perfect either, so im hopeful at least the large weapons are stored n controlled only by 'isimo' as a whole not in 1 big monolith location but spread out thru the regions so their isn't single point of collapse, as for light weapons like aks/pistols, we must completely ban anyone inside any urban setting with it as their is law n order n cops n courts, and leave it for nomadic people to protect their livestock as the reaches of govt are absent for them.

Agreed

agreed! Inshallah this will be achieved! Eventhough my people in mudug won’t be so easy going.. but once south Somalia makes similar progress I am sure narrative will change

Mudug ppl need a 'pact' among themselves, it sounds good on paper u all keep ur weapons unfettered but don't complain why noone will come to invest either, u can't eat ur cake both ways. No1 is going to risk their investment there, not large one anyways as u know the risk of instability is high due to the lack of control on your arms and failing to build law n order facilities that the ppl can trust and won't need weapons.

Gaalkacyo has dynamics that are slightly different than garowe qardho and Bosaso, the instability of the south has direct effect on us and for a very long time this caused hindrance in developments however thanks to great efforts by galmudug, instability is decreasing and this new found stability has been welcomed throughout mudug, this region is the central point of Somali commerce and will flourish for all people across state flags once full stability has been achieved.

disarming mudug is not in the benefits of Puntland yet, for this to happen Somalia as a whole needs to reach a certain level of maturity one that’s build on trade instead of grazing lands

The end goal should be dissolution of standing clan militias and one state army. These isimo have way too much power
