DP World’s expansion of the Bosaso port in Somalia is expected to conclude by the end of the year, a regional ports minister said.
The project, which will cost $366 million, is being financed by a unit of Dubai’s state-owned DP World. The port on the Gulf of Aden, in the semi-autonomous Puntland region, is one of several facilities the company is developing in the Horn of Africa.
“Given, that it’s strategically located, it’s a trading route to attract regional and international traders,” said Ahmed Yasin Salah, Puntland ports minister.
A second expansion phase will begin next year.
A unit of DP World won a 30-year concession in 2017 to develop and manage a multi-purpose port in Bosaso, Puntland’s commercial capital. The company has a similar accord for Berbera port in the neighboring Somali territory of Somaliland.
His envious and jealous of PL. All his argument lack any logic. States r focusing on increasing trade volume, trade volume is superior to where port location is. Let him rant on. All trade volume is centrally located around PL zone till Hiraan and DDS. Port selection must be PL.
Trade volume matter only. Plus it's road infrastructure, security, and good governance, sound policies(caqli salim) relative to other areas seals it's future with no security, poor governance, and no caqli salim policy except 'majerten phobia', which itself is irrational cuz PL does nothing bad to them, PL isn't negative force in Somalia but a Positive force only and an example/model for others to emulate. Their phobia of PL it's all imagined in their head or their projecting what they are like inside on others.
@Bari🐍 I might have to do a topic on clan conditioning vs real clan to clan on-ground realities post 91 and what everyone can see with their own eyes vs what your clan conditioning has taught you. I know for a fact post 91 darods have taken nothing but a defensive posture on wild irir clans and that's just the security dimension. Their is state building dimension vs clan contribution. Some clans don't hold 'helping themselves and then helping others' value of Puntland or setting up an example for others to emulate even.
Most hold a far darker and different clan value system. It's about your hate and destruction that unites them and on-ground realities can be pointed to show their clan narrative since 91. Their clan contribution in state building is only about harming other clans where-ever they can or misusing the state for personal, clan, or other corruption and holding us all back.
It's true clan culture and values are different in somalia and could be one of the biggest reason to our situation. I could personally care less for other clans personally and just want my ppl to be the best and have a good life, where-as some are only wanting good 4 themselves but then want to use that to harm you mentality, their clan values is other clans not their own ppl wanaag.
@DR OSMAN at some point we must recognize that there are some groups that have very negative characteristics to them. It is like they have the worst aspects of nomadic culture, always having to move and fight for resources that's what they believe. There is always a group they must be in opposition, a yar yar they must overpower. In this mindset there is no time to build or think about anything productive. They look outward rather than inward and their future strategies are all looking at the actions of others first, because that is the lens they choose to view society with. It is a foreign concept to just sit and focus on themselves.
@Bari🐍 I observe it in my own social setting as mixed clan as I can see different clan values. My father well post 99 when he gave up on looking outwards and working with contacts in HG elites to govern the nation, he said screw somali and started focusing in-wards on PL, according to him he said rajo somaliyeed marku waaye ayuu dadkisa uu soo jeestay. Ironically after 99 when HG was selected in Carta between 2000-2004, ina salad showed the world what my father witnessed, his own clan rejected he enter the capital.
My dad then became a strong 'yayist' and said 'cagta' hala mariyo kuwan casimada afduubtay oo xitaa dawladi loo dhiibay and they still rejected. Then it was solidified again when YEY resigned they opened a shabab front on sharif govt, proving twice again they don't want govt ileen ina salad waa tay diideen, plus they don't want other clans to govern like 'yey' or 'sharif' ileen terrorism bay labadu ku fureen. That's when I realized their agent of chaos like @calasowcalasowcalasow@gma knows.
The murusade even loved USC but they saw it was 'smoke screen' for other chaos, squatting, looting objectives not governing. I then saw a 'trend' in all somali social ills with HG origin such as warlord, terror, etc, then when I saw they fought every clan such as rahanwayn, dir, mx, mj, murusade, hawadle, abgaal, dhulos with fiqishini, they even instigated abdirahman tuur vs egal war that killed isaaq unity till today, they instigated dahir away terrorism in Bari, ina salad sent ali khalif to fund a PL war also in 2001 against yey.
When I seen all that symptoms I decided why aren't Somali having a coalition hal cadow ayaa uu dhaxeeyo oo malin walbo isku dirayo either directly or indirectly, now their just using wacaysle HSM to keep up the conflict with regions si aysan dawladnimo uu dhalan.
@Bari🐍 in 99 deep in stateless vacuum and in Mogadishu, my dad private conversation with Abdiqaybdiid who are close friends irrespective of politics, he said to him 'war majerten waana siraysan xitaa hadan talino' thats the mind-set ur dealing with.
Even if u tanasul to them they think their a 'plot' behind it which they can't see and your going to harm them. Thats the mind-set your dealing with rather then taking the torch and running with it and sending the nation to better future then where it was and be remembered 4 something positive and something ur clan profile and descendants can use as evidence (milk it like mx milk siyad legacy) or boasting rights. My dad and them he said we have different dhaqan and turned in-wards to PL from that day on.
General caare of HG was another close friend of my father and he refused to run in fear of staining his national profile and harming his kids potential in the future when my dad went to his place to discuss to govern the country. The legit leaders are not wanting to return or even govern, ur dealing with the second rate ppl who seek power, those who built a name prior dont want to lose it in this post 91 nakba somalia.
