That's odd. I don't know about the olympics but I know certain other sporting competitions don't mind anything that isn't performance enhancing as long as it's not an illegal substance.

No way at least for short distance races but there could be a possibility that it can aid long distance runners by reducing leg pain and fatigue. But Anti doping agencies list it as a performance enhancing drug.

Absolutely. Khat contains cathinone which is closely related to amphetamine. testing positive for khat will result a 2 year ban unlike weed which results a 1 month ban.

Why do black Americans cry racism with everything? There’s actually a legitimate argument for it being a dumb rule as cannabis is not a performance enhancing drug.

Whenever they label anything and everything as racist it’s just easy to refute. Are white athletes with weed in their system allowed to compete? Or is smoking weed integral to being black so she must have weed? I swear to God they need to stop.

For context, she took the weed in Oregon, a legal state, to cope with her mother's death.

Surely, that should be taken into consideration. There are a ton of drug cheats in each olympics and we're banning someone for taking a drug that makes them underperform.

But I swear to god if the US Doping Agency did this then there's obvious hell to pay.

Most of the controversy regarding this is because the NFL and NBA do not penalise marijuana usage anymore. If the US Doping Agency banned her when the substance is as legal as alcohol in many of their states then there is obviously a hidden element to this.

The USDA allows marijuana use if its for an "approved therapeutic purpose", I know she does not have a doctors note but surely her mother's death counts?

Sh*t was different. First, Michael got banned for three months for a photo of him smoking from a bong. Second, his incident was after an Olympics so a lengthy ban did not affect him whatsoever. Third, he took the photo at a time when he was committing a crime in every state of the US.

Also begs the question: If Michael is pothead, how come he has never been caught for marijuana substances during random off-season tests? After all marijuana stays in your system for months.

This is why I sort of see the racism argument. I sincerely cannot believe that they charge everyone that has marijuana traces in their blood test.
