Yeah the uk got a crazy class system you can still see it today. But it was much worse back then.
Tbf Britain as the first country to go through industrialisation so it was much painful there for the working class in cities than in other places that industrialised later on and knew what they were doing.

Most of London and pretty much the majority of cities were slums during that time, until the government knocked them all down and rebuilt the cities
