NEWS Bill Gates is creating tiny nuclear power plants

There needs to be some sort of regulation for this.
I feel that the next big industry that these large companies will endeavor in will be AI Cyber Security.

We were conned by the renewable energy crowd. The future clearly lies in nuclear energy. Even diesel is better than solar and wind.

Nuclear is more reliable. It can generate electricity 24/7.
Plus it's cheaper in the long run. Germany which gets 45% of it's energy from renewable's pays double the price that France does which Gets 75% of it's energy from nuclear.

Nuclear new developments are cool but still comes with nuclear waste and proliferation risks.

Renewable isn't just the future it's already here.

Wind is already cheaper than a brand new coal or nuclear plant.

Most of the problems facing renewable's aren't technological there natural. Wind isn't as reliable/efficient as nuclear. Building a reactor is more expensive but it has a longer lifespan and can ultimately pay of the cost.

These small modular reactors are meant to address the cost. They also tackle the meltdown problem which is the main fear. It's experimental right now. Wind on the other hand is inconsistent and suited to specific regions.

Do you want a nuclear power plant next to your neighborhood? Probably not. This is why Nuclear isn't viable amongst many other reasons...

You don't need fuel with wind and solar.

Intermittent power will be solved by a smart grid plus cheap power storage like hydro and batteries in the near future.

Lifespan is just marketing speak. Wind turbines could last decades and cost a lot less to replace or maintain.

True but we're developing wind faster than these modular nuclear plants.

Just the regulatory process will take a decade alone.

Bigger wind turbines means you need lower wind speeds which means you could use them anywhere.

Anyways...it all comes down to costs which I don't think Nuclear could catch up with.
