Berawe's insane potential

I've always thought that Berawe could've been the cultural center of Banadir and not Mogadishu, imagine if they actually put in the work to make this city more beautiful and renovate it

Imagine a trip to the city where you can visit historic old places of the city and buy souvenirs like some locally made kofiyad, better yet, imagine if they build a bridge from the beach to the lighthouse that would be the most beautiful thing ever

When I mean renovate its more like Lamu in Kenya where the city's indentity is preserved, pave the roads, give the old buildings some new cadaan raanji and it would look really good

Many historic Somali places are left to rot, Im afraid in a few decades these old buildings collapse like the lighthouse at xamar, someone told me that some places in barawe have remained so untouched that you can still see bullet holes from the clashes of the past decades

The town declined as the ports of Merka and Mogadishu became more important as they were more suitable for the larger vessels during the early 1900s.

By 1950 most of Barawa 's older houses, close to the shore, had fallen into disrepair and many of them had been vacated by the local families that owned them.

I think that's what makes it more like it is stuck in time and untouched. But you are right it has great potential for revival and renovation.
