Sxb its not on me to read any journa, if your brining sources then you should outline and point out which parts of your sources exactly back up your statements, like the ANC being capable of defeating the SA government, and SA gov supposedly in fear of this ending apartheid. All i can get from that paragraph is that they have been able to present themselves as the biggest front against SA at the expense of another Black SA group, and that their asymmetrical war caused 20k deaths. Nothing there suggests they were capable of militarily defeating the SA gov.

What I meant was that the ANC would’ve waged direct war against Botha, who would’ve violently put it down in biblical proportions which would’ve pushed South Africa to Nth Korea level of pariah.

The apartheid government saw the Blacks at the level of animal and dealt with them as such. Peaceful protests led to massacres, what do you think a conflict would’ve done?

This is getting a little tiresome. The ANC never had a sizable or a reputable military force that would cause "catastrophic losses in South africa". They were known for conducting "assymetric warfare" aka terrorist activities that was suppressed by the South african government. All you have to go off are Nelson Mandela statements which isnt really much to go by.
