He is speaking in a subtle Arab-Australian accent.

It is our version of the New York Italian accent, it's usually predominant in Sydney but the subtlety of his accent tells me that he is from Melbourne.

I don't really get the big deal people make about this.

If you watch a news clip from Australia in the 1950s to 1960s, many people were speaking in a British accent let alone using slang words. It is still rather normal, especially among the upper class to hear people speaking in RP.

What is the problem with Black Australians using the word wagwan and mandem when White Australians say mate and oi, which is British in origin also.
