They are stuck in time, very similar to Cuba. Would be very nice to visit for a few hours just to see what the 60s would look like but I wouldn’t want to stay.

Show me what architecture the kacan build . Every building and infrastructure at that time where build by the Italians or donated by the Chinese or Russians. The tallest building at that time were no more then 4 stories . Mogadishu was only 4-5 degmos at that time while now is 18 degmos and growing , maybe you were living in xamar at that time and know something I dont . Fact is xamar is flourishing now then in the dictatorial era where only few had wealth . It is a blessing that Thebluesomali shows his hate for Mogadishu. It might wake more people up. Mogadishu was completely flattened and destroyed by AY and the occupying Ethiopian army. They destroyed everything. So we had to re-build from zero. President Sheikh Shariff libreated Mogadishu from Al-shabab in 2012. So actually development started in 2013. That means Mogadishu developed for only 10 years and already looks better than Asmara.

Whether it was built by Italians Russians or Kacaan I don't care you are missing the point. Xamar was a way more beautiful city than it is now it was called the pearl of the indian ocean for a reason. Clean white buildings complimenting the blue sea very beautiful, if only the monkeys had some sensibility before turning that city to a hellscape. Xamar looks good now, but in my opinion it has not matched the aesthetic and classic architecture it used to have.

Mogadishu is slowly but surely reviving despite it being destroyed by AY and Ethiopian army. We built this in just ten years plus still having to deal with nacas Farmajoo who set us back and almost destroyed what we built.

Point is Xamar’s destruction has been due to two events, the kacaan and Ethiopian invasion.

It’s crazy to blame the residents when they rebuilt it and only to get destroyed again. You can’t justify that because he resigned and Shariif had to liberate Xamar.
