Somalis are some of the most brain dead folks. The jobs are clearly there and there is a large pool of young people, why not employ them to do basics while hiring experts to oversee them. Some somalis see these jobs are beneath them but those are fools with little prospects, but the ones that want to work should be put to work.

I don't blame construction companies for not hiring or training them. That's twice the work and the responsibility of governments; to train people and certify them.

These idiots need to demonstrate against the corrupt government, and demand free construction training and then certification. Nobody wants to fly in workers from other countries, and then have to find them places to stay. It's more cost-effective to find local workers.

Wow imagine not hiring your people who face such huge unemployment yet you hire a non Somali in Somalia this just goes to show what I said as right Somalis view non Somalis as better.

Nobody in their right mind, will hire unqualified people, to build a death trap. Who is responsible later, when the building collapses, or an electric fire happens? Locals need to be trained, so that they can be competitive.

I went to a hotel/restaurant back home, and let me tell you, the stairs were uneven, the electric sockets were incorrectly placed, wires were hanging out. I'm no building inspector, but that place should be condemned. These are the kind of buildings, that 'local construction workers' aka people with no experience, are building. This is why more and more construction companies, are choosing to hire foreigners.

Then teach the locals why not invest in their own people.

It never goes wrong.

Calling Ajanabis to do is so short sighted.

I said in my first post, that locals need to be trained, and they need to protest to the government and demand training/certification, instead of physically assaulting foreign workers.

It’s not the construction companies responsibility to hire unqualified individuals, especially for small projects. However, major companies like Buruuj for example would benefit in the long term if they established trade schools and apprenticeships like BECO and NECSOM do for the energy sector with their training centres.

If major construction companies, similarly sized as Buruuj, in other parts of the country did the same, you could spark a job market where skilled individuals from Garowe or Berbera are flown in to work on projects in Mogadishu, or individuals from the latter city take up job offers in other major cities. They would always have an income while experiencing other parts of the country, and expand their minds.

The students that aren’t employed right away by the major companies could trickle down to the smaller residential projects. And rather than beating these poor ajanabis trying to feed their families back home, giving them prominent positions at those trade schools because of their practical experience and overall knowledge would be a better alternative.

There simply isn't any groundwork done by officials to establish a construction industry based purely with Somalia. We have a boundless amount of young people that flood into the work field every year however they all end up as tuktuk drivers. Nations that were destitute were still able to use the most reliable resource, human labor. There needs to be a serious discussion on what to do and how to go about industrilizing the nation.

It depends on whether he's there on behalf of his government, we don't want to turn out like those countries that are slaves to China.

What a bunch of apes!

If they don't want others to loose the construction work to foreigners they should try to do better work, and or learn new skills. I know local pay is low, and id guess its in the same order of magnitude as what the foreginers.

I hate entitled people and even more, this mooryaan behaviour. You can just tell these guys do rubbish work by their mentality. My goodness.

This is how China is taking over Africa. You think these foreigners will be content with just the job? They want to take over in the end.
