Another ethnic group who number around 1m that are very similar to Hararis:

"The great majority of the Silt'e population is Muslim making up 97.60% the population followed by Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity at 2.03%. Until the second half of the twentieth century the Silt'e were considered as being part of the Gurage (but called Adiyya or Hadiyya by the Sebat Bet Gurage). Silte people are also called Adere by the neighboring Arsi-Oromo which might indicate the relationship to the Harari who live (in and around the historic city of Harar) miles away from where the Silte people are inhabiting. The two ethnic groups (Silte and Harari) share somewhat similar language and the same religion."

I read somewhere they may have been the lost tribe of Harla. These people are not Oromos and the Harla were not Oromos. Are they one and the same people?

There is anecdotal evidence (conjecture really) the Harla were assimilated into western Somali clans.

So many languages in the horn, I've never even heard of these. I would love to just travel around compiling and collecting ancient Cushitic/Ethiosemitic words into a historical encyclopedia on Horn languages.:ahh:

Do you know if they are also related to the Afar?
They are found in the afar region too near the border of the amhara region, their language is dying though

I know Argobba are not Oromo but what in heaven's name happened to the Harla people, pre-Somali people? Some clans, in particular the Ogaden, claim Harla is part and parcel of their Abtirsi.

No wonder why these Oromos are 40 million, these niggas waged cultural genocide on probably 100 ethnic groups.

When Somalis ruled Adal, all cultures flourished. :wow1:
